This guy is realising the folly. Clicky

The graph shows how much more people pay for branded goods compared with unbranded goods that is of the same usage and quality. We are being fooled by prestige of brands.

Chance Meeting?

Did not know Bill was in town. It was the right time for me. This snatched meeting confirms something. Nothing happens by chance! Thank God for that.

Now I can run with more confidence. Now I know I heard correctly.

The Rich and Powerful

There is no difference from the poor and ordinary folks. The rich and the powerful also suffers from fatal illness. Money and power cannot bring health nor prevent diseases. One might think that they have the means and access to the best medical prevention and cure, but apparently not! They too are overcame by incurable disease at a relatively young age. Makes me thankful for health.

However, my condolence to the bereaved though they do not know me from Adam.

Better to talk?

Or stew in anger over sensitive issues?

http://thestar.com.my/news/story.asp?file=/2006/7/26/nation/14951573&sec=nation

Our wise leader decide it is better to stew... I am not sure. If we don't talk, emotions might explode. Better to express and find ways forward now than to explode out of control later.

Silly Question

Once I was shitting my guts out loudly ... prbbbbtttthhhh in the toilet.
My wife asked,"is that you dear?"

What was I to answer in my pain?

"Yes honey" or "No, it is my oesophagus!"

What's new?

Nothing really! Nothing new under the sun with political intrigues, football or lack of it (world cup was a non event). Now ieth wars & rumours of war, earthquakes and strange weathers. What on earth is going on? Clueless unless one believe that history is His Story with a beginning and an end.

It is the Pitch!

A poor carpenter blames the tools.
What does a poor football team blame?

First it is the heat....
(as if the heat does not affect the other team!)

Now it is... wait for it, the pitch
(as if the other team plays on a different pitch!)

Next? The ball? The Stadium? The Country? The Air? The Food?

Why not themselves or the coach?

Blame the heat

If England is a hot favourite, they have melted in the heat. What a boring 1-0 win, no heart, no tactics and no clue. They blame their lethargy on the heat! If is that hot, how come Paraguay plays better in the second half with so much more energy than England!

The hype is beginning to hound them. If England was tipped to win this cup, then there is hope for all the lesser teams!

Football Fever

So Germany won 4-2. They used to be so efficiently boring. Now under their former striking legend as a coach, they are more attacking minded. Should be good to watch. But I fell asleep before half time. Germany not my team. Thats why.

All the tiredness due to construction in progress? Check it out.

Election by the majority will not benefit the majority?

Do you believe in what politicians are really saying or do they think we are really stupid? Go figure!

This politician said that election will only be good if it benefits the majority!

What the heck! If a democratic election is held, only the majority decision is the decision that the majority hopes will beneift them! Or do politicians think that the people cannot elect the right person to represent them?

Just cannot believe in what I read!

Good Food, Good Sex and Good Marriage?

Er, just in case you label me as a male chuavinist pig, that is not my opinion it is an opinion of a woman, not any ordinary woman but a top politician.

If that is the basis of a marriage, why would a male bother to keep the relationship going? For good food and good sex? If that is the case, once the food and sex runs sour, what is there to stop a man from running to another who can provide the same, or worse what is there to stop the man from going to a restaurant and than a prostitute, if that is all that will satisfy a man.

I find this degrading for woman. And insulting for man.

I believe the basis for a good marriage is a strong relationship based on mutual love and respect, sacrificial care and giving by both parties, and commitment to God and to each other. Once this is in place, whether the food and sex is good or not, the relationship will continue to flourish. But then once it is flourishing, the food will be good one way or another, and definitely the sex will become great. That is my experience.

This is what the good book say about marriage:

Eph 5:33 But every husband must love his wife as he loves himself, and wives should respect their husbands.

Another World Record For Malaysia

Malaysia has a fondness for breaking world record in the mundane stuff, like the largest flag, tallest flag pole, and tallest building (until last year that is).

This must be the new world record in a telephone bill! 800 trillion ringgit! I cannot work out how much is a billion, let alone a trillion. 800 trillion must be worth at least 8,000 years of our GNP (Gross national products).

Lets work out the sum, I think our GNP is about 100 billion ringgit per year. Now 1 trillion is 1000 billion, so 800 trillion must be 800,000 billion ringgit that works out to be 8,000 years worth of our GNP!

The US economy GNP is only 60 trillion US$ and that comes to less than 240 trillion ringgit. How can a telephone bill come out to be more than 3 times the US economy?

This bill is definitely a world record, for a telephone bill or even if it is a mistake, it is a world record mistake! Be proud Malaysians :) be very proud about this latest achievement. :D

Sunnis and Shias

Daily now we read of human bombs in the Middle East. It is however Sunni Muslim human bombers targeting against the Shia Muslims. What is going on? I am a bit confused and more than a bit concerned over what human can do to human.

I have a little read about the affairs of things.

This article put the history of the enmity between two groups.

I hesitate to call it religious violence because I do not know enough. If it is, how can one group of believers of the same faith murder another group from the same faith? The same can be said about the Northern Ireland violence. It is called sectarian violence. But is it as simple as that? I am not sure.

I think human beings are by nature sinful. We cannot help ourselves. Religious deeds cannot save us from ourselves. Our emotions are too volatile. We carry too much historical baggage with cultural differnce in human realtionship. Any of this can spark a fire that will burn out the human tinder wood of history.

That is why I believe we need a Saviour to save us from ourselves. That is why I believe in Jesus. He did not create an empire, an army or an institution. He did the opposite and sacrificed himself for our sins.
What a man, what a Saviour!
