Retreat

It is better to retreat after a bruishing battle. Jesus did it everytime after massive public ministries of teachings and healings. Very often he was accused by His enemies of being the devil! He needed to retreat, so do we.

Elizabeth Wong is a high ranking up and coming political star. She has been bruised and battered by being emotionally 'raped' with her private images exposed. Such images should only be seen in the privacy and security of her home. These images are only meant for the person whom she trusts and cares for. But it has been cruelly violated. She is deeply hurt and her wounds need healing. Covering up by staying busy (if she does not resign from the Exco position or even being the ADUN) will cause more damage to her. Our mind and heart (emotion) is a very fragile thing. If left unattended to, she will be hardened and she will seek revenge. If she does that I foresee a trail of destruction in the future.

She now needs support from those who love her. It is not right to clamour for her attention right now nor put more pressure on her to remain as if nothing has happened to her. Good intentions of her supporters pleading for her not to resign will not be helpful. She need to retreat, rest, recover, and be refreshed for more battles ahead. Let her go.

Elizabeth Wong

I salute Elizabeth Wong. In all that I have read about her, this spunky woman (is it any surprise that I admire spunky woman? I married one!) has intergrity and places principle above self. She chose to resign though she has done nothing wrong in her own lifestyle preference. She seems to be a victim.

Her resignation is right. It will put a stop to aspersions into her private dignity. Those who desire higher office ought to live with higher morality. Those in public office can no longer claim to have a private life, those who desire privacy ought not be in public leadership.

Tragic though it may be that a capable and hardworking leader has been brought down, it is good for government on the long run. Thank God for people like Elizabeth, Malaysia may just turn out better for such examples. Those political opponents who have cast stones better watch out. She has set the right example. May another good leader be chosen take up the baton.
